Highmark Wellness Program
I visited Highmark in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the last week to discuss his staff about nutrition. Begin their "One Ton Challenge," in which employees are able to be tested meal plans, track their calories and make weight loss goals. This is a challenge of 10 weeks and at the end of it, expect to lose a lot in common. Impressive to me is the fact that this challenge during the holiday season. Invited to 2.4 hour sessions and each employee (whether in person at a remote location or over the Internet) to work as part of "training."
When I visited their facilities and learned about its wellness program, I realized that it is very difficult not healthy, while your at work. All employees have access to the gym. Fitness Center and say that really your gym. Had numerous cardio machines, weight circuits, spinning bikes, yoga and Pilates classes … and the list continues. There are rooms filled with local showers and lockers, and every employee is a towel, soap, shampoo and conditioner, to encourage them to make time for exercise during your work day to do. The cafeteria and food court has many healthy options of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean protein choices galore.
I do not think I said anything new to eat fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, lots of meals consistent monitoring and focus on lifestyle rather than a balanced diet. But too often, especially in a society that is fast food and convenience is used when people say, "healthy eating" is intimidating, overwhelming and intimidating. I hope people saw that the food is healthy, accessible, and trusts that make a healthy lifestyle for themselves. It was a pleasure, a part of the wellness program Highmark be and deal with their employees. Thanks to Mark for the invitation!
And … Personally, I fell in love with the beautiful city of Pittsburgh. My husband and son, are sports fans, who were very jealous that I saw the Heinz Field and PNC Stadium. What a great experience for everyone!
