I get strep throat like once a year and because they had you on antibiotics for a while and gave you another strep test, the medicine probably threw off the test and caused it to come back negative. My advice to you would be to go back to urgent care and get a “Z” pack (that’s what they called it when they gave it to me) which is really strong medicine and take it EVERY DAY until it is gone. Also, gargle salt water and some sort of mouth wash at least 4 times a day and before bed. If it keeps coming back after that, then I would advise you to go to an emergency room or to your doctor to get some simple blood work to check for any minor complications.
